Chapter Summary:
Describes Harry’s miserable life with the Dursleys and culminates in a magical incident at the zoo. On Dudley’s birthday, Harry is forced to accompany them on a trip to the zoo, where he inexplicably speaks to a boa constrictor, causing the glass of the snake’s enclosure to vanish. The snake is freed and escapes.
